The ACLU of Alaska’s Queer and Trans Justice Project advocates for the rights of LGBTQIA2S+ people through community building and direct action, and by centering the voices of queer and trans Alaskans.
Nationwide, the LGBTQIA2S+ community has been targeted by discriminatory policies that seek to erase queer and trans people from public life. From anti-trans bathroom policies, to book bans that seek to remove LGBTQIA2S+ voices from library shelves, the free expression and privacy rights of our communities are at risk. Alaska is no exception.
The Queer and Trans Justice Project is working to stop these policies in their tracks and ensure that the constitutional rights of all Alaskans are upheld. Join our effort here.
Queer and trans-led programming
We seek to provide opportunities for the LGBTQIA2S+ folks and advocates to engage in meaningful decision-making as we continue to shape and grow this project in collaboration with our community.
Centering Queer Joy
The Queer and Trans Justice Project is guided by the principle that joy is a radical act of resistance. We seek to create spaces where queer and trans people can share their stories and build networks of support.
Safety for the LGBTQIA2S+ community
The Queer and Trans Justice Project seeks to ensure safety and support for queer and trans people. At the core of our approach is prioritizing the well-being of the community. Whether we are fighting for change through litigation or advocacy, safety and wellness always comes first.
