ANCHORAGE PRIDE PARADE: SATURDAY, JUNE 29; ACLU of Alaska named Grand Marshall
ANCHORAGE – Alaskans Together Foundation, an education nonprofit that focuses on education to serve the needs of Alaska’s diverse LGBTQ+ community, will once again host the Anchorage Pride Parade at 11:30 am this Saturday, June 29 at Delaney Park Strip.
The Anchorage Pride Parade, a vibrant celebration of diversity, equality, and inclusion, has become a significant milestone for the community, uniting people from all walks of life to embrace their true selves and support the LGBTQ+ community.
This year’s Grand Marshall is ACLU of Alaska, a local non-profit dedicated to defending and preserving individual and group civil rights and liberties under the Constitution.
The Anchorage Pride Parade will start on E Street and 7th Avenue, making its way around the Delaney Park Strip and ending at Anchorage’s Pride Festival 2024 – Northern Rights, hosted by Huycke Entertainment.
Nearly 50 groups/floats and 800 people are expected to participate in this year’s parade, a record for Anchorage Pride.
“The Anchorage Pride Parade is vital to our community because it’s an opportunity to celebrate diversity, promote equality, and affirm the right of every individual to live authentically and without fear of discrimination,” said Elias Rojas, board chair of Alaskans Together Foundation. “The parade is a reminder of the progress we’ve made towards equality, while acknowledging that there is still work to be done.”
Staging will begin at 10:30 a.m. at 8th Avenue and E Street.
Alaskans Together Foundation is pleased to announce the inclusion of the following corporate sponsors: Alyeska Pipeline Service Co., Alaska Airlines, ConocoPhillips Alaska, Fred Meyer, GCI, Rasmuson Foundation, and Walmart.
