The ACLU of Alaska is saddened to share the loss of former Board President Karen Crane on March 20, 2024, in Juneau. Karen served from April 2017 until April 2023. Karen lived a long life of public service, including as an Assembly Member for the City and Borough of Juneau, and as a volunteer at the Partnership Board, Juneau's Sponsor Circle for Refugees, and Chair of Juneau Arts and Humanities Council. Friends, family, and members of the community note that she was a fiercely independent, progressive thinker her whole life.
