Katherine Wagner joined the ACLU of Alaska in September 2024. She grew up in Northern California and graduated high school in West Texas in 2006. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 2008 and served as an anti-submarine helicopter mechanic. She deployed twice aboard the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier between 2009 and 2012. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Alaska Anchorage in 2016. And her Juris Doctor from Mitchell Hamline School of Law in 2021.
Katherine worked as a certified student attorney at Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid in 2019. Then completed a federal judicial externship and a residency with the Minnesota Supreme Court in 2020. She clerked for the Chief Judge of Minnesota's Third Judicial District from 2021 to 2023. She then spent a year in private practice at a small firm in Minnesota between 2023 and 2024. There, she primarily represented clients in civil, criminal, family, and child protection matters.
Katherine lives and works in Anchorage, the traditional homeland of the Dena’ina Peoples. She lives with her wife and their two adorable children. Katherine is a “foodie" who loves trying new food and barbequing or smoking her own meat. She enjoys fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, repairing anything mechanical, and home renovation projects.
